Peaceful Breathing – Android Application

Yesterday I finished porting my Deep Breathing application to Android and made an ad-supported, fully functional free version as well as paid application.  The application is called Peaceful Breathing and can be found on the Android Marketplace here:

Peaceful Breathing
Peaceful Breathing Lite

I have been using this application for some deep breathing sessions and have been enjoying it for relaxation and calming the mind, as well as to help open up the body.  If you give it a try, I’d love to hear your feedback!  Enjoy!

  1. Great application!

Could you please explain in a couple of word, how the
Tempo Hold Transition Tempo works? What is the Transition for?

    1. Hi Sergey,

The four values allow a starting tempo, how long that tempo should last, a transition time, and the final tempo. So for example, you could start at tempo 60 for 5 minutes, then over 5 minutes transition to tempo 40.

      Thanks and enjoy!

  2. Hello Steven:
Thank you for releasing this app.
After searching and trying many different breathing/relaxation apps, I found this app to be most useful because of the audio cue and many adjustable parameters.

I’d like to suggest a feature request that would make it even better app.

There are varying breathing techniques for different purposes.
e.g. Dr. Weil discusses many breathing techniques in his book. On his site, he
    lists three different breathing exercises.

Would you please allow creating and saving different profiles so that the user can setup a profile, save and then recall the profile later instead of resetting the controls individually each time different exercise is used.

thank you and keep up the good work.

    1. Hi SJ,

Thanks for your comments. Profiles would certainly be nice, and I’m just waiting until I have some free time available until I can go and update the software. I think realistically it won’t be until May now, despite my best efforts. Until then, I hope you enjoy the program and I look forward to improving it for everyone!

  3. Re: tempo

I did not see an explanation regarding the tempo.

A tempo indicates the counts in a minute. A tempo setting of 60 translates to 60 counts in a minute. That is if the tempo is set to 60, and a count is set to 10, it would last 10 seconds. If the tempo is set to 40, then a count of 10 would last 15 seconds.

  4. Hi Steve, I enjoy your “Peaceful Breathing” app and have purchased the paid version. Thank you for creating such a simple, useful app!

I have one simple feature request that would make a huge difference: Can you add a toggle to turn on / off the ending sound?

I use your program for my insomnia, but after the deep breathing has relaxed me into sleep, the “gong” at the end abruptly wakes me up.

I’m certain this would be helpful for many of your other customers, since insomnia is such a widespread problem (60 million Americans!), and deep breathing is one of the most effective non-drug ways to treat it.

    1. Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your kind words! I will try to add a preference setting next time I work on the application, hopefully in the next few days.

      All best!

  5. Thanks so much for adding the feature, Stephen! I’m impressed with how responsive you are, and how quickly you added the features. You clearly care about putting out good products.

Off to rate the two Peaceful Breathing apps, and hopefully encourage others to try out this simple, very useful app =).

  6. Thanks Andrew! I have had to take some time between releases but I’m going to try to spend some more time consistently on improving the app, feature by feature. Glad you’re enjoying it!

  7. Is it possible to get any of the lovely variety of sounds in your deep breathing web app into the peaceful breathing android app? I only have the free version, but would be happy to purchase the paid version if I could get different sounds for the breathing. Actually, my first choice of sounds would be a Tibetan bowl, but several in your deep breathing web app seem quite nice. Thanks.
    AJ

    1. Hi AJ,

I’m afraid the desktop version uses a different sound system that is not available on Android. I’ve been wanting to find the time to update the application and others have asked for new sounds. I hope to get to this sometime sooner rather than later.

      All best!
      steven

      1. Thanks for your reply. I do look forward the update. Peaceful Breathing is a great tool, and more sounds would make it even better.
        AJ
